MONTE LAKE, B.C. — Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are looking into a Monday afternoon (June 27) crash of an Arrow Transportation truck into Monte Lake.

Cpl. Mike Halskov of B.C. Highway Patrol says there were two occupants in the transport truck when, at about 3:00 p.m., it careened off Highway 97 and into the lake.

A photo from the scene shows the second trailer in the B-train partly on the shore while the cab is mostly submerged.

Halskov says the passenger escaped to the shore before joining a man who was fishing nearby in rescuing the driver from the cab.

The driver was taken to hospital for assessment, and Halskov says it’s believed a medical emergency led to the truck veering off the highway.
